From Kitchen Waste to Eco-Friendly Household Cleaners

Eco-Friendly Household Cleaning Products Made from Recycled Cooking Oil

The Australian co-founder and Managing Director of Indochine Natural Sdn Bhd, Dr. Mike Thair, has perfected a method that converts recycled cooking oil into eco-friendly household cleaning products. The process used is saponification, one of the oldest chemical reactions known to man. Recycled cooking oil is treated with a strong alkali, and depending on the process chosen, either solid or liquid cleaning products are produced. This use of recycled cooking oil reduces kitchen waste, and the cleaning products produced are 100% biodegradable, non-toxic, and do not contain harmful chemicals or bleach.

Dish Was Soap (solid)
Has excellent cleaning properties, can be used in cold water, is long lasting and therefore very economical.

Eco-Friendly General Household Cleaning Liquid
Suitable for all household-cleaning purposes including dishes, pots & pans, floors, walls, tiles, and all other household cleaning chores. One of the most versatile all-purpose cleaners on the market.

Dr. Thair has made the production of cleaning products from recycled cooking oil a focus of Indochine Natural’s Fair Trade activities. Working with a group of rural-based intellectually disabled on Penang Island, Malaysia, recycled cooking oil is collected from local villages. Dr. Thair has assisted this group to refine the production of solid dish wash soap, and designed equipment and provided training in the production of the general household cleaning liquid.

These household cleaning products made from recycled cooking oil are sold in retail stores in Malaysia and have been exported to Singapore, the USA, and Japan. This provides a viable source of income for this group of intellectually disabled, and assists them on their path to economic independence.

Recently Indochine Natural has started to collaborate with the Real Food Grocer group in Singapore to produce cleaning products from their recycled organic vegetarian cooking oil. These products can be used to meet their restaurant cleaning requirements, and also have the potential to be retailed as household cleaners.

More details of these household cleaners can be found on our website

Natural sustainable insecticides on veggie and plants

Few days ago, we have a phone call to our office to asked if our Eco Friendly General Cleaning Liquid can be used as "natural sustainable insecticides on veggie and plants"in Organic farm.  Our first reply was, "we don't now much about that, you may try and experience it yourself". The question never went off our mind about, whether you can use liquid soap as insecticides?

As I find out after some researches, you certainly can, when used in spray form with water diluted ratio of 2%, and it has been practised for more than 200 years.

How it works as insecticides :  Liquid soap potassium salt disrupt the insect's cell membranes and removes their protective outer waxy coating causing death through excess loss of water. Insects must come in direct contact with the soap solution for it to be effective.  It's most effective with soft-bodied insects such as aphids, mites, mealybugs and psyllids and must sprays directly to cover the insects.

Attentions :  Mix with water to produce a solution of 2% concentration.  Try in small area first before apply widely.  Do not apply on the hot, sunny day to avoid leafs damages.  Repeat applications may be needed in short period (4 to 7 days) to control certain insects.

Biodegradable, safe on Earth : Our Natural Liquid cleaning soap is made from Recycle cooking oils and contain no synthetic.  The process of making liquid soap start by combining Potassium Hydroxide with Oils to create saponification process turned oils to potassium salt of fatty acid (soap) plus glycerol.  This make our liquid soap can easily break down by micro-organisms, there for biodegradable, safer to use than the most insecticides available alternative.

Another useful of Eco Friendly General Cleaning Liquid, we are so happy.

Recycle, Reuse, Reduce.
