But I Have Oily Skin…Should I Really Use a Face Oil ?

We hear this comment often when introducing our organic face oil to customers….and the quick answer is YES.

Face oils are nothing new, they date back to the ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman empires, but it is only recently that they have come back in vogue. The fact is that plant-based facial oils are moisturizers that provide a bigger boost of hydration than your regular lotion moisturizer, and the reason is simple. Plant oils are technically known as lipophilic (fat loving), so they absorb into the skin’s lipid barrier keeping your skin hydrated, and the big side benefit is that this absorption softens the appearance of fine lines.

We need to be VERY clear on one thing here…..we are talking plant oils, not mineral oils.

Now, back to the oily skin question. With oily skin, natural plant oils trick your skin into thinking it already has enough oil, thereby shutting off sebum production.

If you have dry or blemished skin, the soothing plant oils will help to lock-in moisture by forming a protective barrier, while also cleaning out or refreshing pores.

According to many experts, plant oils are a great addition to your daily beauty ritual, regardless of skin type. Oils do not cause breakouts, and they can decrease inflammation, decrease the appearance of fine lines, and have the potential to help clear a range of skin conditions and protect against infection, dry and flaky skin.

Our Indochine Natural Essence Des Plantes Organic Face Oil is a sumptuous blend of eight carefully selected botanicals that deliver exceptional hydrating and balancing benefits to the skin. It absorbs quickly and evenly, detoxifying patchy skin, imparting a feeling of wellbeing and a smooth, matte finish. Formulated to leave skin brighter and toned without feeling greasy, this healing botanical oil is a favourite with men and women alike.

Ingredients:  Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil*, Sesamum indicum (Sesame) seed oil*, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil*, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil*, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil*, Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) oil, Salvia sclarea (Clary Sage) oil, Cananga odorata (Ylang Ylang) flower oil. *Certified Organic

Routine: Use morning and evening when skin is still damp after cleansing. Use only a very small amount (usually less than 1 pump). Pump the oil into your palm, rub hands together and gently pat your face, neck and décolletage, spreading a thin even layer. Leave for a few minutes to let the oil sink into the skin.

Now for some good news & bad news...... the good news is that our 50 mL Essence Des Plantes Organic Face Oil at RM 50.00 is the best value face oil in Malaysia today.......the bad news....we cannot hold this low introductory price much longer, and on 1 May 2015 the price will go up to RM 68.40.

A Good Reason to Use Face Oil

On a daily basis our facial skin is exposed to extreme temperatures, sun exposure, pollution of many types, drying air conditioning, stress, irritating ingredients, and in many cases poor diet. All of these factors contribute to facial skin inflammatory conditions.

Plant oils, especially seed oils, are anti-inflammatory and create a breathable lipid barrier to protect skin from the onslaught of these elements. At the same time these plant oils speed up skin’s self-regenerating process of healing and repair.

All good reasons to consider the daily use of a high quality organic face oil.

Dr. Mike, our co-founder, has created the Indochine Natural Essence Des Plantes Organic Face Oil (50 mL) which is a unique blend of five certified organic botanical oils to nourish and protect all skin types.

Choosing the Right Ingredients for your Baby’s Skin Care Products

If you are concerned about the products you use on your baby’s skin and confused about popular terms such as “natural” or “organic” on baby skin care product labels, you are not alone. Even professions are not clear, and the reasons for this include:

·      Not all labeling terms are regulated.
·      Regulations can be contradictory.
·      Many companies use misleading words like “natural” on their packaging as a way of boosting sales.

When Indochine Natural’s cofounder and Managing Director Dr. Mike Thair formulated our Honey soap using New Zealand organic honey he took the “keep-it-simple” approach and formulated a moisturizing safe bar soap using only coconut and palm oils with added organic honey. This is a simple and safe soap for all skin types, and perfect as a safe and mild baby soap.

If you would like to learn more about choosing safe body care products, Dr. Mike has written a series of short and easy to understand consumer guides that are available for download free-of-charge from our website.

Since launching our honey soap it has become a favorite with many mums as a baby soap and also a top-to-toe. But be careful, natural chemical free soap can sting the eyes. Another favorite with mums is our No Fragrance soap.

Our products are available from all JustLife stores  in Malaysia, or locally and internationally from our online store.

COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH OF NEW ORGANIC FACE OIL

After many moths of study and testing, Dr. Mike is in the final stages now of launching our new “Essence Des Plantes Organic Face Oil.” As usual, quality is the top priority for all Indochine Natural products. For each of the base oils the organic certifications have been verified and lab analysis reports double-checked, plus reviews completed of the laboratory tests of the allergens analysis for each essential oil. Notifications have now been completed with the Ministry of Health and the product registered.

The first bulk order of the organic oils arrived yesterday, and Dr. Mike will do the final “sniff & feel” checks to ensure that these oils are up to our expectations. If all the ingredients pass these final tests, then the first production run will be bottled and labeled within the next couple of weeks, and “Essence Des Plantes Organic Face Oil” finally launched.

Watch this space for the launch details, and for full product details check our website  on the launch date.

AGAIN, THE CERTIFIED ORGANIC DILEMMA

At Indochine Natural we are sometimes bemused when searching for and evaluating new ingredients for new products that we are developing. Here is a set of ingredients for LIQUORICE ROOT EXTRACT - CERTIFIED ORGANIC by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) who are Australia's largest certifier for organic and biodynamic produce.

  • Ingredients: Certified Organic Glycerine, Aqua, Certified Organic Glycyrrhiza glabra, Parfum (Naticide ®*), Potassium sorbate.

The Nationwide and Potassium sorbate are described as "natural" preservatives, and obviously are not organic. Commercially, most sorbic acid is produced by reacting crotonaldehyde with ketene in the presence of a catalyst. Mmmm, doesn't sound too "natural" to me.

Now Naticide is another interesting case. I have contacted the manufacturer, and the response was that the contents of Naticide are ‘confidential.' So who knows? How are we able  to determine that Naticide is "natural."

For consumers then, manufacturers may only declare on their ingredient labels "organic Liquorice Root Extract" and nobody is the wiser!!

Regards from a befuddled Dr. Mike......I am obviously having issues with language here....doesn't natural mean natural and organic mean organic?

How are the Indochine Natural Body Wash, Shampoo, and Face Wash products different?

How are the Indochine Natural Body Wash, Shampoo, and Face Wash products different?

Different? But aren’t all the brands very similar in the ingredients used?
Actually no. Many body wash, shampoo and face wash products are synthetic detergents (for short we call these “Syndets”).

You mean I have been using synthetic detergents in my bathroom? How can I tell from the
label?
Check the ingredients list and you will find things like Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, and Sodium Laureth Sulfate, plus many other synthetic chemicals.

How about “organic” bathroom products?” Surely these must be OK?
Maybe. But there is nothing stopping a manufacturer from adding an organic ingredient to a Syndet and calling it “organic shampoo.”

OK, so how are the Indochine Natural products
different then?
First is the ingredients, these are blends of vegetable oils such as Soybean, Coconut, Canola, and Olive oil. There are no synthetics or chemicals and the ingredients are all from plants. Second, the production method, which is a simple process called saponification. After two years of research and experimenting, Dr. Mike has perfected an eco-friendly method that only requires a small amount of heat energy. At room temperature we add things like essential oils and wild harvest organic honey, all of which have benefits for our hair and skin.

How can I tell this from the labels?
Simple. On Indochine Natural products you will see ingredients such as Potassium Cocoate (coconut oil), Potassium Canolate (canola oil), Potassium Ricate (rice bran oil), and Potassium Soyate (soybean oil). And that’s all, there are no chemical additives, everything in the product is plant derived.

If I use these plant derived products, what is the main benefit?
Besides the benefits to our hair and skin from using natural ingredients, you will not be absorbing synthetic chemicals through your skin and adding to your body’s toxic load.

Dr. Mike’s philosophy in developing Indochine Natural products is that purity and simplicity are the best approach in producing effective and safe body care products.
