Many
people using our handmade natural soaps realize that “they are different,” but
often can’t verbalize exactly how they are actually “different.” Consider this, look around your
bathroom and identify how many items are actually handmade and natural, and are
of plant origin? Probably in most bathrooms there are none.
In modern
society we are gradually removing ourselves from nature and cocooning ourselves
in artificial words. When something like a natural handmade soap enters our
world, it is certainly “different.”
But it is
not just the physical “different,” a lot of the natural ingredients we use in
our soaps have long and colorful histories. Take Clove as an example, it is
greatly underappreciated in these modern times for their medicinal uses.
Historically, cloves have been used to treat many ailments, and are a great
overall healer due to their antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral,
anti-parasitic, and analgesic properties. Cloves can be used topically to treat
acne, styes and various sores
Cloves
were one of the most precious spices of the 16th and 17th century spice trade,
of which Penang Island, our home, was a significant part. The control of cloves
spurred many ancient expeditions, and even wars.
So there
you are, in your bathroom with a simple handmade natural bar of Clove soap you
have something in your hand that is composed of ingredients that have natural
healing properties and a long colorful history. These are properties that we
simply cannot find with synthetic mass produced products.
